Staring at him, Stone huffed a little. “I do other things, too,” the girl couldn’t help but quip back; it was almost as if it shot away before she could reel it in. “Just… not… normal things. Like things you’d expect me to do. I garden.” It may have been the flower cart she’d spied earlier, but the dark-haired young woman relayed the first lie that came to her mind. She didn’t know a thing about plants—hell, the way she’d gone about the peppers like she’d never seen them before would’ve revealed that information to anyone with half a mind—but it seemed to suffice for now.
“I’ll make it through; I promise,” she offered, still with that slight edge of irritation, and left it at that.
