"I..." apologize "will try," she said. As her elder, it was certainly his place to give her instruction if he so wished. Or run over her, if he preferred - he was correct in the fact that he certainly could walk all over her and she probably wouldn't do anything but apologize helplessly as she dreamed of ways to get away from him.
But it seemed, somehow, that... instructing her was more pressing than whatever he had been doing. So until he tired of her, she would have to make conversation. Hopefully without apologizing.
"It is a lovely party," she said lamely, even if it seemed neither of them were having a particularly nice time.
