GALE KAPUR & GENEVIEVE ALBRECHT
"So you believe it useless then," Gale asked, and despite herself, she could sense her own disappointment seeping into the tones and colors of her voice. For some reason, she had hoped that Genevieve had some grand plan, some wonderful solution to her problem -- but of course, she did not. There was no perfect solution for her to offer. The truth was, despite all her attempts to break free from her family and for all her supposed airs about how little she cared about the Kapurs, none of it rang true -- she was, in fact, still terribly loyal to them, unable to cast them off. It was family that had made her insistently contrary to begin with, and so of course, they were still the center of her universe, no matter how hard she tried to make it not so.
But still, there had been something Genevieve had said that piqued her interest.
"If I were to try and break their control," she began, and she forced her hands to relax, suddenly aware of how she might seem to any attentive nobles passing by. "Do you think I might be able to do such a thing?"
