Altair considered her offer for a moment. It was tempting. Vivi rarely offered to pass along messages, particularly to Reinholdt. She seemed to prefer to keep their relationship—whatever it was—separate from the rest of her life. Finally, though, he shook his head. "No," he said. "I believe he already knows everything I could possibly tell him."
At her question, Altair simply smiled and patted the hand she'd placed on his arm. "It's nothing to concern yourself over, darling," he said. "These things have a tendency to work themselves out eventually." He didn't know precisely what would come of his engagement with Gale, or of anything else in his life. It was likely that one year from now, he'd be wed. With any luck, they'd be able to work out an arrangement that they would both find livable.
