"Of course," Altair said smiling. "If you would excuse me," he said to the people he was currently conversing with—Lady Marcotte and Lady Wallingford—as he stepped to a clear part of the ballroom with Genevieve.
"Yes, I expect we shall be quite happy," he said easily before Genevieve could ask him anything. "She is certainly a beautiful woman, and I am very lucky to have made such an excellent match." Then, he added suddenly, as an afterthought, "Oh, but you haven't asked anything. I'm afraid I'm getting rather ahead of myself, as all the questions this evening have been the same."
He took a sip from what was his second glass of champagne. "This evening has been quite a bit more stressful than I'd anticipated," he confided.
