Gale/Juliette - after dinner
"Yes, of course," Juliette was quick to assure her. As far as she could tell, being a proper young lady meant being able to lie without bating a lash. "It is a beautiful party. Very elegant. You look very lovely." Gale had an elegance that Juliette had yet to grow into - assuming she ever did.
She took the flute of champagne and ventured a small sip. She did not enjoy alcohol, particularly, as it made her feel as though she hadn't perfect control of her actions. Councilman Liu had mentioned to her once that he never drank at all; she would have liked to follow in his footsteps, but her changes in diet had already been met with disapproval from her guardians, and she had no doubt that eschewing drink would not go over well, not that she was of age to partake. "I am certain she has plans, yes," she said, trying not to sound miserable. "And no, I am afraid I haven't." The idea of dancing with Storm brought both relief and discomfort; they would have something to talk about, but at the same time, she could not help wondering whether their friendship had already been noted and dissected by their elders. That was the last thing she wanted.
