"I can keep you company while you eat," Peony said easily. "It seems as though you are not immune to the lure of funnel cake. I wonder if my brothers will like it?" she mused. "I never encountered it before coming to Valendia. They are about your age," she added. "Perhaps I shall introduce you sometime." Once her own relationship with them was cemented; she had a notion that seeing her at ease with one of their peers might not help her case with them right now.
Still, as they approached the funnel cake stand, she added, "What do you think? Shall I surprise them after lunch? You will have to tell me if it is worthwhile, as I must save my appetite - so it seems you will be doing me a favor if you eat one."
