Now that his attention was caught, however, he studied the woman as he waited for her to finish her transaction. No weapon was visible, so she must have been ordering something that wasn't in stock. She didn't look like a fighter, either. Perhaps she was a mage?
Altair was rather curious about mages in general. He didn't know very many—did he know even one? Perhaps not, now that he thought about it. They tended to keep to their tower, and Altair himself wasn't in a line of work where he tended to encounter them in the course of his usual business. His childhood friends had grown up to be knights or thieves of various stripes; none of them had become mages. Honestly, Altair wasn't sure whether or not he trusted them. They were so secretive, yet so powerful.
