The shop door opened and closed once again as Altair strode through. Altair did barely any of his own shopping, preferring to leave the acquisition of most things to his valet. The major exception he made was for his pistol. A six-shot revolver with a carved ivory handle, the gun never left Altair's holster for long. The idea of letting his valet traipse all over town while Altair was forced to go about his business unarmed was unacceptable to him. So, he preferred to handle repairs and purchases for his gun personally.
When he got into the shop, Aspel was already helping another customer. Altair waited off to the side for them to finish their transaction—it sounded like they were nearly done anyway. Meanwhile, he flipped open the chamber of his gun and unloaded it, shaking the bullets out into his hand.
