INTERMISSION - Kiernan & Lea!
"Oh, I know you," he said. "You'll be beyond perfect. And even if you're not, you've got skills enough to make it look completely flawless."
Kiernan had heard of the performer's rule: if you screw up, act like you meant to do it and the audience would be none the wiser. He knew he was part of that audience that wouldn't know a fuck-up when he saw it, not unless the performer did something stupid. Lea was fantastic, that much he knew very well, and more importantly, she was the exact opposite of stupid. He knew he'd love her performance no matter what -- or how -- she did.
He placed a firm hand over hers, and then, after a moment's consideration, decided that a light pat would be more appropriate. "I'm glad to hear -- and see it," he said. "I know you can handle yourself fine." It didn't stop him from worrying, though, but he masked it with an amused laugh. "An airship? Hope it wasn't one run by a bunch of unruly menfolk."
