Apparently, it wasn't going to be that easy. Audrey wasn't getting out of the way - and Alecta wasn't relenting - and Cian probably didn't help matters by saying, "Forget letting us go; I'm not letting her go. Time to die, lady." He didn't need her hassling him again. He'd finish this now and for all.
Or, so he thought. But then she made a motion to throw, prompting him to attempt to duck out of the way. And somehow - he could tell how; everything happened so fast - Audrey had thrown herself between them, and she was collapsing against him.
The taste of iron started to flood her senses. Opening her eyes, Audrey had found herself in an embrace with Cian within her arms. Holding onto him was the best thing she could do now, pain was shooting all throughout her back. Daggers and shuriken littered her body, some going further in than others, while a few even embedded and broke bone. By Faram’s will, Audrey was lucky they had all missed breaking or even damaging her spine. With her eyes locked onto the Gambler’s, she freed a hand (albeit stumbling with the lack of support) to touch the new blood dripping down her lips. Ripping her eyes away to gaze at it, shock was beginning to set in.
Her breathing increased rapidly and she had already begun to sweat. Audrey’s hand began to shake anxiously, staring wide eyed at her own blood. Coughing, she covered her mouth to prevent blood from splattering on the man before her. Unfortunately, the side of her entire hand bloodied was more than enough to send her over. Audrey’s hand went down to reach for a small ball from one of her pouches. With struggled effort, she threw the ball on the ground, able to use Flee to escape the situation with Alecta. Smoke filled the room, and within the minute the gas dissipated, the two were gone.
Outside in the alley, Audrey had dropped to her hands and knees. She felt warm liquid on her back, assuming it was more blood that was dripping. Her blood covered spit kept dripping to the floor. Closing her eyes, her voice was hardly audible already feeling light headed. “Am I going to die?”
