Magic seemed to be hurting it. While the fighters fought to control the smaller creatures, it seemed Merri was more focused on the larger threat. The other young man seemed to be a mage of some sort too - maybe - though she could not tell entirely what he was trying to do. Still, there was one thing she could do for them, provided, of course, it worked.
She launched into the trills of Angel Song, feeling new energy wash over her as she attempted to restore the mages' casting power. No mage could keep up a barrage of fire and lightning indefinitely, but she could extend the duration. She was lucky, really; with so many more threatening targets on the battlefield, nothing was paying attention to her, not even the massive beast above. Fleetingly, she found herself wishing for Ifrit's assistance, but he was silent at the back of her mind, retreated to wherever he went to recover from his earlier exertions.
It was fortunate that she was far too busy to panic.
When Aspel began shouting, though, her eyes widened as she realized what she was trying to do. She had to be crazy to try it, but the beasts turned to her one by one, drawn by her words and her movements. Even the giant water dragon seemed to be expressing some small amount of interest. Ari had been intending to gift Merri and the unfamiliar boy with Faith, but she switched tactics, attempting instead to Confuse the monsters circling Aspel. It wouldn't work on the dragon, most likely. Its head was far too high for him to hear her. But the more blows she could prevent while others assaulted the beast, the better they would fare.
