Pyr/Alecta/Cy
It seemed the woman had heard, after all. Not that she looked very thrilled to see Pyr. He could sympathize with her; if he had to pick anyone to help him in a fight, it wouldn't be a 15-year-old squire.
And she – her name was Alecta, it seemed – hadn't seen Sky. Had his brother not been near the warehouses that day? Perhaps by the time she'd arrived to defend them, Sky had already escaped. The other woman, Cy, also seemed to think that hanging around the docks was foolish. He had to admit they weren't wrong, but how could he go home when Sky was out there?
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw an iron crab inching towards Alecta, and opened his mouth to warn her – too late. Its pincer drew blood from Alecta's leg but, before Pyr could think of some way to help, she leaned down and sunk her dagger into the crab's mouth. It dropped dead instantly.
Stick 'em in the mouth. Got it.
He needed every edge he could get, if he was to fight through a horde of those things. He couldn't leave without knowing for sure where Sky was, and he couldn't make his way through the battlefield on his own. He felt somewhat reassured as Cy's protective magic settled over him, but he knew that spell wouldn't be enough to keep him safe from the monsters. He had to convince them to help him look for Sky, somehow.
"I'm pretty good at improvising. And I'm lucky." Not so much today, though. "Listen, I don't plan to hang around. I just want to find my brother and get the hell out of here. But if I stay with you, I have a better chance of not getting mobbed by those things. I promise I won't drag you down. Do you mind?"
