Nate was more than happy to stay behind the armoured woman with the sword - she clearly knew what she was doing. The monsters attacking her looked different from the toads he'd faced earlier - huge, metallic crabs, he doubted frost or poison would have much effect.
No, he had something much better against metal.
He'd filled nearly a dozen vials with acid, and he took three from his bag, shuffling two to his left hand so he could throw. Aiming carefully, he lobbed them over the fighters' heads, and watched as they cracked one after another over the generous targets provided by the crabs. The creatures didn't seem particularly effected, but their carapaces cracked and pitted as the acid ate away at the metal. Hopefully the weakened shells would allow the fighters to break through more easily.
The vast sea serpent still loomed above, though. It was fairly clear by this point that the serpent was their true enemy - the swarming monsters were just a side effect. Nate had watched the mage's fire attack actually wound the creature. Dammit, if only his explosives were water-proof... he didn't want to risk throwing them up in case of a late ignition. He knew from experience that blowing yourself up was no fun at all. But without his hand gun to fire grenades, there was no way he'd reach that height anyway.
Although - maybe if - that might work! Lobbing the last of the acid vials he was holding, Nate stepped back and began tugging at the bottom of his shirt. If he could get a decent length of fabric, he could easily fashion a crude slingshot, which might be able to give him the range he needed. Determined, he bit into the fabric and began to rip.
