The tidal wave had caught her by surprise, sweeping her off her feet and dragging her further down the shore. Her should knocked against a piece of debris and she bit her tongue to keep from crying out. As soon as she could stand, she dashed back towards the group, ready to start her dance anew, but the sea serpent quickly derailed that plan.
There was no way a meager dance was going to do shit against that thing. "Fuck," she cursed, shaking her head. She had to have the shittiest luck of anyone she knew. "So," she called out, not to anyone in particular. "Anyone got any ideas?"
Magey called out something about protecting the palings and Ash rolled her eyes, crushing her mace into the nearest iguion. "How about we fucking keep ourselves alive first?" she retorted. Just her fucking luck to get caught with a bunch of white hats. He held Ari as tightly as he could while the water began to drain away. She was still clinging to him, which wasn't a good sign, but they were on solid ground - the beach, which was the exact opposite direction of where he'd wanted to go - and hopefully that would go a long way towards calming her. It took a moment to extract himself from Ari and he looked around, spotting the giant serpent immediately. "Tiny tenacious tipsy tonberries," he cursed.
His first instinct was to tell Nate and Ari to run, but he caught sight of the familiar gleam of armor and sighed in resignation. Aspel, he thought. No way was he leaving, and no way was Ari leaving. Maliciously maculose moogles, he thought, bending down to help Ari up. "Aspel, two o'clock," he told her. "I've got to go help her. You and Nate should get out of here." It was worth a try, at least.
