Water itself did not seem like the most terrifying element to be assaulted with. However, like the wind, it was singularly devastating in large quantities. When she saw the wave coming she strapped her sword into her scabbard and leaned forward. She just assumed you ought to dive into it, as she would as a small girl swimming.
But when it came she had no understanding of how the force of it would affect her. She flailed, automatically kicking her legs to move up and out, some primal instinct directing her. It was a beat in the air again before she gasped for breath, the back of her ankle catching solid ground and sprawling backwards, onto her back, staring up at the sky as it receded and puddled around her.
She stood up again, immediately unshielding her sword as her vision came back into focus. A crab near her flailed weakly, upside down, and she finished the job. Maria begin muttering a spell of healing to aid the woman with the small dagger as she approached her to help her up. Thankfully, she herself was not so hurt and her curative magicks would travel with her.
