That holy business of red's was sure useful. He spared a thought to Ash, remembering her hilariously effective mimicry of these skills - maybe just once she was staying the hell out of trouble, but with the Councilor's demand to defend the warehouses, he doubted it.
Maybe she'd gotten caught up with a white mage and was mimicking Curagas right now. A man could hope.
The sea came into view, and rising above it... "What the ever-flaming fuck?" Whatever the hell that thing was, it was huge. "Think we've found the source of our trouble?" he called. The water disgorged another stream of monsters, and he drew a pair of dice, blew on them for luck, threw into their midst. A series of powerful explosions followed; when the smoke cleared only half of the monsters were still standing. "How are we gonna get at that thing?"
Actually, now that he thought of it, there might be one way....
"Back in a flash," he promised, before turning and loping away back in the direction they had come. The warehouse was only a few blocks back - they had made slow progress through the monsters - but now that he was headed in the same direction, they ignored him.
