Genevieve/Juliette/Quenten/Divina
Quen allowed Genevieve to pull her along the path, but she kept her own senses attuned to what was going on around her. She felt something just ahead and to her right, and turned her head toward it. It was blue magic, but the magical signature was like nothing she'd felt from any human. A monster, then.
She was almost too fascinated to act, but she caught herself and aimed a Blizzard spell for the exact place where she felt the other spell taking shape. She felt her own spell catch and heard the satisfying sound of ice forming and shattering over her target. It was a short-lived feeling, however; she hadn't gotten her own spell off quickly enough to prevent the one the monster had been casting from hitting. It washed over her in a feeling of a harsh ocean breeze that stripped her skin. At the end, she felt a twinge of something else—like another spell hidden within the first, trying but failing to take hold.
That was disturbing. Quen was immediately sobered. Who knew what sort of effects these monster's spells could cause? And the four of them so unprepared: they might not have any way to remove certain devastating status effects. She redoubled her efforts to keep on top of what was going on around her.
