Eden/Li/Altair/Darius/Audrey
Altair was beginning to think he had a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He wasn't near the Docks on Sunday afternoon, but he wasn't far from them either, when he heard people screaming and running away.
Faram's ass he thought irritably. What is it this time? He'd been cavalier on the network a few weeks before about the crime in the city, after the murders and the defilement of the Necrohol, but he was admittedly rethinking his stance now. Between the night of the walking dead the week before and now whatever was going on at the Docks—again—well, perhaps he was willing to admit that things were no longer business as usual in Emillion.
Pulling out his network device, he sent a quick message to Li: Trouble at the Docks. Come quickly. He didn't even bother asking himself what he was doing, this time. He simply took it as a foregone conclusion that he would be running toward what everyone else was running away from. He was a hero now. He might as well accept it, and stop teasing Drake about putting himself in harm's way.
Behind the throngs of running people, Altair could now see throngs of sea creatures scuttling toward him. He drew his pistol and fired at a few armored crabs, killing them. If there was one thing a gun was good for, it was killing things that had armor on. It took him a few minutes to realize that those weren't the problem. They seemed more concerned with running away, too, not with attacking him.
As he neared the docks, he spied a familiar shape, and a familiar black sword. "Li," he said in surprise. "That was quick." Perhaps a bonus was in order if this was the sort of service he would get from the man. Then he noticed the blond girl next to Li, and that they were both staring at something. He looked, too.
