Siana/Altair/Jareth/Ari/Alecta - Sackheim Inn
At Jareth's mention of murder, Altair's smile vanished and his countenance grew blank. He replaced his water glass on the table very slowly. He was prepared to go with them, if only to avoid a further scene—nearly every eye in the restaurant was on them as it was.
Then Siana threatened him, and he drew his brows together in irritation. "You cannot arrest me," he told her coldly. "I have not done anything wrong, and you have no evidence at all to prove otherwise. Nevertheless..." He stood then, and smoothed out his dinner jacket, taking one deep breath in through his nostrils. "Never let it be said I am not one to cooperate with the EKP. I am always glad to help the city's finest,." He sneered as he said the last word, stretching it until it was clear that he meant the exact opposite.
Turning to his dinner guests, he bowed at first Alecta and then Ari in turn. "Ladies," he said more gently, "I regret that I am being called away during our meal. I do hope you will let me make it up to you." To the maitre d' he said, "Please charge this to Highcombe."
Then, with one last contemptuous look at Jareth and Siana, he strode out of the restaurant ahead of them. He'd be damned if he'd let them march him through the streets of Emillion like some common criminal.
