"Yeah," Quen agreed. She couldn't see the sky, but she could feel the day growing cooler, and she could hear the sound of crickets hiding in the alley. She tossed her watermelon rind aside and stood. Her hands were sticky from watermelon juice, but she didn't want to wipe them on her dress. "I suppose we ought to head back to the tower, then." She let him go first out of the alley. Even though it was getting later, the bustle in the Bazaar District hadn't abated and she preferred having someone who could see to lead her through these busier districts.
"You have a test tomorrow, don't you?" Quen asked as they started back for the tower. "Do you want help studying?" Quen had a lot of studying of her own to do. She couldn't spare as much time as she used to these days, hanging out Liyal. Still he was her friend, and she didn't mind helping, if he wanted it. Otherwise, she would just return to her room, wash her hands, and crack one of her own books. She also had to work on her speech for the town hall meeting on Wednesday.
