Ari shrugged; as she had said, she didn't actually remember who had mentioned it. She had only retained the fact itself, one of a list of curious and strange things about Aspel. It was a fairly lengthy list by this time - she rarely forgot things about people she considered interesting and worth knowing, and Aspel certainly belonged on this list.
When Aspel said to let her know if she had trouble, she could only shrug. She thought again of the crater in the middle of the street. "I... think Kiernan will be all right," she said. She had some idea how to approach him. Jareth, though... "Well," she shook her head, "as I said, I'd rather not, right now. Breakfast it is."
Her worries about the day were a little too overwhelming to deal with. Kiernan and Jareth, checking in with friends and acquaintances, the fact that her director was certainly in a tizzy over her absence - even if she thought she might not be the only one... It seemed better to focus on food and Aspel right now. That much was manageable.
Once the food was on the table, she loaded up her plate quickly - another slice of bread, more cheese, an egg, one of each type of muffin. "I'm always incredibly hungry after something like that," she said sheepishly after taking a large bite of the banana-nut muffin and taking the time to chew and swallow. "Apologies if my manners are as appalling as your muffins are amazing." She spared a thought to hoping that Aspel would manage to eat, too. Last night, she had managed about half a plate - the same as last time - and Ari had to wonder if she ought to limit meals here so as not to leave her friend hungry. Then again, Aspel also seemed genuinely invested in attempting to work through whatever her food issues were, so perhaps these meals were actually more helpful than Ari realized?
It was something to think about, sometime later. For now, she just hoped Aspel would eat something.
She doctored her coffee with sugar, took a long drink, and let out a satisfied sigh after she removed the cup from her lips. "I think I'll live, after all," she joked slightly.
