[Vivi/Altair/Merri/Wil/Open]
The idea of escape did not sit well with Merrion, not when he could still fight and do his part to help save the people of Emillion, but he knew that Vivi, at least, needed to get to safety. So he continued to cast Fire spells at the dwindling number of undead, which brought him some hope that perhaps the battle was near its end anyway, and after taking care of the ghost the captain had warned about, Merri staggered back to give himself the time to cast Fira, momentarily forgetting about the sprain in his ankle. He cried out and he saw stars, but he needed to get this done.
He closed his eyes to focus through the pain when he felt the harsh sting of a Thunder attack, but he kept his concentration steady. Then, he cast the spell towards the last group of Undead he could see, and quickly sent Aero after it in order to enhance it further. It was no Firaga, but it was as close as he could ever get, and he fell to his knees as the world spun.
"I'm going to need more potions," he gasped, "and ethers. Then I can come back to fight." He was a council member, after all. He refused to quit when there were still innocents and fighters and fellow mages in danger; he needed to see this through to the very end. "But we need to get Vivi out of here, now."
