Caught up in her own thoughts, Lex started to turn away just as she saw the unfamiliar man hesitating on the stairs just below her. It would've been very easy for someone to admit to themselves that whatever was troubling him was no business of theirs, and as such, no reason to inquire. However, if something happened here at this spot, it meant it was in fact quite Lex's business, and any other of her comrades who might've seen it instead. The cathedral didn't simply turn their back on people, at least, that was what was taught to her from a very young age. In practice she was sure they were hardly so generous, but the young woman decided to take it upon herself to intervene.
She appraised him before stepping closer. "Excuse me...Do you need assistance?" Lex asked politely, standing hardly two steps away now and trying to figure out what the correct protocol was going to be. Perhaps she'd misunderstood, but then, there was little harm in gaining a solid confirmation. It wasn't as if Lex was in a particular hurry, after all.
