Who: Siana and Maria What: Out on patrol Where: Commoners District When: Noonish Rating: PG Status: Complete
The streets were more crowded today than usual, even the Commoners District, which was normally packed to the brim of people running about their business anyway, but today -- and for the next week or two -- there were more than a few extra bodies flowing into the inns. It was not difficult to navigate her chocobo around the crowd, and people were quick to step out of her way, but Siana's concern more lied in the fact that with this many more people in the city, the more crimes could be and would be committed, and the harder it would be to catch all of them at work. Cutpurses especially thrived this time of year, and it would be worse next week.
Siana kept her eyes peeled, the partner she was assigned for this patrol a few paces behind her atop his, and he complained of a grumbling stomach. "You should have eaten before we left," she said.
"When we left, it wasn't lunchtime yet. That was hours ago."
"Only three hours ago, and you knew we'd be out here a while."
"But we're allowed a break," he insisted, "and aren't you hungry too?"
She was. "We have a job to do, Prichard. If you brought something along, you best eat it now."
"I didn't."
Oh for the love of--
Siana stopped her chocobo and turned to glare at Prichard, who, just to annoy her further it seemed, did not give her the decency of looking sheepish. "Then go," she said. "I'll not work with someone who is incapacitated by his hunger."
"Did you bring anything?"
"I did." One riceball to tide her over until after her patrol, but she could do without for a little bit longer. "Go get your lunch and catch up with me as quickly as you can."
He rolled his eyes and turned his chocobo away. "Really, Banes, we are allowed to take a break to eat and piss when we're out on patrol. Emillion's not going to fall into ruin if we leave it unguarded for a few minutes."
"And you should have come on patrol more prepared," she snapped as he rode off. She continued on the patrol, alone, and truthfully, though a second pair of eyes in this crowd was often useful, she preferred it this way. Less interruptions.
