Time moved differently when Divina went into Berserk. Seconds, minutes, hours: was there any difference among them? Time was measurable only in the beat of her heart, the war drum to which she surrendered unconditionally. She existed only for the next blow she could deal upon the opponent. There was no exhaustion, no pain, simply the need to draw blood, to draw it quickly.
Until, bit by bit, then rapidly, like the shattering of a glass window, Divina came back into herself. The shock of it might have been disorienting, but it was a sensation the Fell Knight was more than accustomed to. She steeled herself in anticipation for the return of her sensory faculties. Indeed, the pain rushed through her senses like a tidal wave. The sharp ends of her ribs dug into her lungs like a vise.
Nevertheless, Divina fell upon Ifrit with Sanguine Sword after Sanguine Sword, trying desperately to regain the life energy she was quickly losing. As her strength returned to her, she again leapt into the air, this time to execute Helm Smash. Deathbringer landed on the beast's head with brutal force. With an angry roar, Ifrit caught Divina out of the air and hurled her into the cave wall.
Not for a moment was the knight defeated. On sheer willpower, she rose to her feet. She held herself upright only briefly before stumbling to her knees. Gritting her teeth, Divina forced herself to rise once more. So it was on her feet that, horrified, she watched Li take another fall.
She would not leave his broken body vulnerable to yet another of Ifrit's attacks. Though she was in no state to sprint toward the beast, she had some magical power remaining, sufficient for one spell. Should she use Drain or Bio? Drain would help her and her alone, but Bio, if it inflicted Poison...
Fiercely gripping Deathbringer, Divina cast Bio. The Dark swarmed around Ifrit like a cloud, dealing toxic damage. The knight could only watch with heaving breaths, the weight of her body resting on her sword. In the safety of her mind, she sent a prayer to Faram, asking, perhaps in vain, that Ifrit be left Poisoned.
