There had been no time to reach Li before the flames hit, and for a brief second, he heard Li scream. It was all in his head, of course, because Li was still moving, a girl with little armor at his side. He recognized her movements as Fell. There was no time to dwell, and the distraction was unnecessary.
His movements had slowed considerably and it took him a moment to realize that the monster's attack had been imbued with Slow. Fuck, he thought, willing his body to speed up. Strains of music wrapped around him and he remembered the bard. Her words were clearer now than they had been when she'd first entered, but it could also be that everything around him seemed submerged.
Suddenly, he could move at mostly normal speed and he shook his head to clear it. It was a necessity for the moment - despite what Berserk did, Jareth could never properly cast it without a clear mind. He spared a glance at Li and forcibly reminded himself that Li would be fine; the objective was the monster.
And when it bellowed, Jareth grinned and cast. Suddenly, everything was tinged in red and rage strummed through him. Ax at the ready, he attacked.
