Certainly, she feared death and pain, but their party appeared strong, if not organized. Only a coordinated phalanx was a most effective strength, but monsters could not either be counted on for a coordinated tactic. She nodded silently to the few who arrived who caught her eye, making no motion to introduce herself. Perhaps it was the way she carried herself - straight like an arrow - with her serious apparel and serene expression. Her holy symbols were in plain light, her armor shining in the light.
People expected her to be aloof.
She withdrew her sword and advanced at a much more calculated pace than Siana. As before when they faced an enemy, Maria was better used just behind Siana, supporting her and the other front line and healing as she could.
Maria held her sword in front of her and begin murmuring words beneath her breath. A soft light began at the tip and ran over her hand and into her chest, where it pushed itself in and then poured out around her in an aura to help shield from the flames and other magic.
"Faram! Lord who giveth-" She said out loud, staring at the large beast in front of her, calling courage from her heart. "forgiveness unending, Tests Infernal-" That little slicing of the air, as if the very fabric of existence was crackling. Her and another holy knight had once talked about this, how their experiences differed. It was what they felt, Maria thought, their own holy inspirations. "Holy spark, Judgement eternal!" There it was, the blue light above her head. She slashed with her sword and her first blow of the melee was landed, her prayers answered.
