While monsters, mayhem and destruction had reigned supreme in the recent past, it didn't mean that Emillion couldn't have its slow days. The days where time nearly felt like it all but stood still, and the sun took forever with its journey across the sky. Today - for many - had been one of those days. Perhaps it was because the weekend was so close that the adults and children both could nearly taste it. Unfortunately, longing thoughts for the weekend weren't the only thing lingering about in Emillion's walls... A quickened shuffle, a scuffling, and a zip of movement could be heard by many throughout the course of the day. There was a fair number of people who shrugged it off as rats, cats, or other bothersome creatures of the sort. Yet, a select few gave chase. Trying to track down the source of the noise, trying spot whatever little creature may be running around. For those willing to spend the time, effort and energy, they would eventually be rewarded with a flash of green zipping by their lines of sight, or perhaps even finding a few needles lying about. However, thankfully for those people, none of them would quite fall upon the truth of the matter, even if they were left with more questions than answers as they scratched their heads. No, in the end it would end up two unlucky squires that would finally corner one of the small, quick little green monsters, and attempt to poke at it with sticks as they tried to figure out what it was. Even more unfortunate for them, the little one had friends. While the squires remained intrigued by the little green beast zipping this way and that out of the way of their sticks - but unable to run away with a back to its wall - it instead resorted to other - more drastic - measures as a silent call was let out for help, hoping its brethren would hear. And hear they did. It would take maybe a dozen minutes, but before they knew it the squires found themselves surrounded by the little green prickly beasts, and in fear brandished their sticks, trying to knock the little monsters away out of fear and desperation. This was an even more foolish tactic as the little group began zipping about them, causing the squires to scream and attempt to run, but even then, even as they escaped a barrage of needles, and the cactuars' wrath, really the big trouble had only just begun as a massive King Cactuar was now displeased more than ever that the babies of its line were being disturbed. This - of course - meant something needed to be done about this, and the King Cactuar was by no means going to let the cactuar babes stay that way! It would be only a moment before it managed to teleport in, and in seeing the fear that the smaller cactuars had, clearly there was only one choice in the matter. Those Humes would have to pay for what they had done. With that, the King Cactuar moved forward, angrily on the search for two idiot Squires that hadn't a clue what they had done. |
