Drake & Saeed
Saeed joined Drake on the sand, keeping his legs bent in order to rest his arms across them, "Duty calls and I am bound. And unfortunately it means I do not see people as much as I would like," he replied truthfully. Chuckling a little, he shook his head, "Kind enough of him to do so. And they say only those who misbehave have fun." He glanced back to the ocean before them and breathed in again.
"You tend to be quite busy yourself," Saeed said, "and yet I think it is not all work that keeps your time occupied." Drake must have known what Saeed was getting at, though if he dismissed it, Saeed would not pursue, though it would plant some seeds of curiosity.
Drake laughed. “Well, even councilors should have lives, right?” He knew what Saeed was talking about; it had been a while since someone had brought up Ari and Aspel, even in a roundabout way. Things had settled and while a new part was added to the rumor every so often, most people kind of just accepted it and moved on. But then, Saeed had been out of town for a while, and he wasn’t pressing, which made Drake more inclined to humor him.
That, and he was a terrible liar.
“Until Ari is back in a show, I get to see her a lot more,” he said. “And it’s not like I’m any busier on that front than I’ve ever been. I’m just actually trying to take things seriously for once. Growing up sucks.”
"Are you sure?" Saeed joked back, "Or are you here working?" If this was the sort of work that Councilmen did, then Saeed thought that maybe he should reconsider his own line of work. Not really though, he enjoyed working as a family's bodyguard. Protecting them from harm and keeping them together.
Saeed was not really aware of the interesting relationship that Drake shared with Ari and Aspel. Certainly not Aspel, as she met with Saeed regularly for training and occasionally afterward, extra rounds in a bedroom. If they did say anything to him, Aspel certainly didn't mention anything that would stop their time spent together. His comment on Ari, however, took him a bit by surprise, "I didn't even know you were seeing her. She's a beautiful woman and a good friend. You're lucky."
