There was an odd strike of satisfaction within her when the monster reeled, and a sharp stab of relief cutting through it all too. It was hard to tell when something used the Dark if it was weak to spells of that nature or not. A low growl emerged from her throat, and an opaque blackness began to whisp and seep up around her fingers, beginning to envelop her hand, and ooze up her forearm. “I am.” The smith’s words held a chilling calm, even as the Darkness continued to move up her arm.
“Begone, beast!” Came the barked words as Aspel’s hand slashed through the air, flinging a Darkra spell upon the monster before them.
The Elemental did not seem eager to give up the fight so easily; as Mag landed after her strike, it shot flames at the group. She ignored the familiar (almost nostalgic) feeling of her armor heating up as fire enveloped her, determined not to yield a step to the monster's assault, and shouted: "Is that all you have? I've suffered worse burns from spilling tea on myself!"
As if taken to be a challenge, a wave of Blizzaga washed over her next; gritting her teeth, Mag glanced at the other two women, then nodded at Aspel, a signal that she was about to Jump. That nod was a relic from a long time ago, the go-ahead for Aspel's Fell skills, a remainder of the dynamic they had carefully built in combat over their time in Ordalia. Before the memories could grip her completely, Mag shot up into the air.
As the elemental attacks enveloped Magnolia, Genevieve scowled. It always seemed that situations such as these reinforced her utter helplessness, and it was not a feeling she was fond of. She should have pressed Ophion to teach her more, but at the time, she had prescribed to his manner of instruction - practice a single spell until it comes easy, then move on. She had mastered Poison, but what good would it do her here?
She had tried her hand at Cura, but it was nowhere near good enough - it would be a waste of the effort required to summon it. Better to continue with Cure, which she lobbed at Magnolia once before the knight shot from the ground.
What more could she do? Perhaps…. Aspel and Magnolia would be cross with her, but if the Elemental was focused upon her, then it would be easier for them to bring it down, would it not? Genevieve took a deep breath and stepped forward. “You seem rather dim; has it slipped your mind that you’ve three opponents rather than one?”
The Elemental turned to her; it’s shimmer was coming in spurts now. Good, she thought. It was weakening.
“BACK!” Aspel snapped at Vivi before stepping in front of the other woman, and summoning up a whirlwind of darkness at her command. With that the hammer was hefted up, and brought down upon the monster with Unholy Sacrifice bursting violently outwards, and cracking her own bones while the Dark attempted to rend flesh from her body as well trying to rip the monster before them apart.
It did the trick; the Elemental flickered like the image from a cheap memstone. Mag landed to see the tendrils of Dark magic rendering their enemy and immediately glanced at Aspel. Standing, though another such attack would be reckless, and because Aspel was usually reckless, Mag began to cast Dragonmend to prepare for the inevitable. This enemy would fall soon, but if the city was under attack again, there was no way she or Aspel were going to stay put.
Her next attack put an end to the beast, and it vanished into the air. There were others waiting — but before considering those, she turned to the other two women.
"Everyone okay?" They seemed unharmed; a look down at herself showed no bleeding, no wounds that she hadn't noticed, except for some blackened spots on her armor where the blast of the Fire spells had hit. "Hope you don't make a habit of taunting monsters, Vivi, I've got the bachelorette party half-planned in my head."
