It had been a scream that alerted her to things being amiss. Though really, it could have been any day of the week and assuming something was wrong about Emillion would have been a fairly safe bet as of late. With that, Ceres had rushed out into the fray without a second thought other than 'My city needs me' which the lingering thought in the back of her head still plagued her thoughts at night but the immediate knee jerk reaction... Well, something like this that was trained so strongly into one was hard to lose.
With a flick and flourish of her wrist, the gunblade was drawn and readied for attack against the nearest monster she found herself against before reaching the edge of the city. A brainpan was nothing like she'd ever seen before, from her time as guild to KingsGuard to being regulated into role of ranger and... Unfortunately, the speed knight didn't have much time to think, merely react as Waterga went flying at her head and she quickly flipped out of the way. Well, if it attacked with water then it likely wouldn't like what she would have to offer in return as Ceres flung a thundra spell back at the monster who stood between her and the safety of those who resided in this great city.
He’d been out the door the second he’d heard of the trouble, dashing out into the streets and pointing civilians towards safety. The sick feeling in his stomach that had developed at the thought of any battle had settled again, but he breathed through it and pushed through. There were many reasons to be thankful to his former-mentor-turned-stepfather, but that training session to get through his issues with fighting was topping the list right now.
The last group of fleeing people had been directed to the nearest guildhall when he spotted Ceres standing against one of the really weird-looking monsters that seemed to be roaming the streets. Without thinking, he rushed in, shouting for the knight to stand back, and skidded to a stop behind the thing. Quickly, he squatted and got a grip under the monster, and then he lifted.
And then he flung the thing towards the ground.
As it landed, it erupted in sudden, bright blue flames. From the shadow of a building stretching over another adjacent street, Peony lowered her rod, watching to see how effective the attack had been. The stone head, cracked up one side from the impact with the cobblestones (which had not fared much better) pulled itself upright through some strange force of gravity, and it was clear it would not be downed so easily.
She offered a nod to the two familiar faces, but before raising her weapon once more, inquired, “May I assist?”
She had been sent away from one group already, and while she would not force her aid upon anyone, however sorely they might require assistance, she still hoped she could stay and do some good here. Alone, she was far too vulnerable. Behind two fighters, she was a force to be reckoned with.
