Jareth & the Labyrinth Kids vs Brainpan | COMPLETE
Pyr’s healing spell had helped a little, but he knew without having to think too hard about it that another Unholy Sacrifice would practically knock him out. Sanguine Sword, then, he thought, striking the monster and focusing on the energy around his hand and around the ugly as thing his ax was stuck in. Carefully, he concentrated on pulling, the life force from it to him.
He was starting to feel a little better as the connection broke and he jumped back. The monster wobbled and Jareth looked over at where Pyr was. “It’s weak,” he called out. “Attack it from all sides.” And then he struck it again with his ax.
Having done what she could for Ridley, and hoping that it was enough, Juliette attempted to follow the order, shooting another blast at the stone head from her knees, hitting it almost squarely in its forehead.
The Fire spell had worked once, but rather than attempt it again, Pyr moved in to attack the beast with his claws. He wanted to go check that Ridley was all right, but their enemy did seem to have weakened considerably. Once it was defeated, Ridley could be taken to a clinic, and everything would be all right.
It happened in an instant. Pyr stepped back after a flurry of slashing attacks, and glanced at Sky — and in that moment, the monster lashed out and hit him under the ribs, pushing him back. The pain made him fall to one knee; doubled-over, he looked up and saw the monster had turned to him. He must have hit the jackpot with one of his attacks, but there was little time to rejoice. Despite the pain, he straightened up and settled into stance again, determined to be faster than the beast next time it attacked.
“Pyr!” Sky yelled, and the relief that his brother was still okay, still alive, quickly turned to anger that this ugly ass thing dared attack him at all. “Son of bitch,” he hissed, not even thinking twice about drawing the good dagger from his person. He lunged forward for the attack, managing to make blade meet rock. Unfortunately, it was effective enough to catch its attention again, and before he knew it, Sky found himself flying across the street.
Whatever that crunching noise he heard when he landed, he knew it couldn’t be good. “Faram fucking damn it…” he gasped.
Juliette saw the weakened monster toss her friends one after the other, as though it wasn’t hurt at all. And although common sense said she ought to heal, or continue her distance attacks with chi, she felt the telltale bubbling of anger under the surface. In the rush of battle, she couldn’t push it away -- there was too much happening.
So instead of pulling back, she darted in, delivering a sound flying kick to the side of the giant stone face. She tried to prepare herself for the backlash, attempting to roll when it sent her flying, but even so she felt her shoulder wrench as she landed just wrong enough to collide painfully with the cobbles. Wincing and blinking back tears, she dragged herself to her feet, hoping only that while she had been airborne, the knight had finished the enemy off.
He wasn’t sure how he was going to carry four fucking kids to a healer, but that was what he was thinking of as he used one last attack to take the damn monster down. It froze, then shuddered and crumbled into pieces. Jareth kicked the rubble for good measure before moving to where the blonde girl was and picking her up. Pyr was standing, Sky was still sprawled on the ground, and Coulombe was getting to her feet.
Jareth sighed. “Pyr, help Coulombe.” He made his way towards Sky and scooped him up, tossing him over his shoulder. “Let’s get you guys to the guildhall.” Drop them off, let a healer take a look at them, and then he could leave.
If this was what being a parent was like…
The thought was forced away. Slowly, they made their way to safety.
