He grunted but did as she asked, his vision swimming for a moment before focusing. "Just a scratch," he called back.
Which was a lie, but that didn't really matter. Better him than her.
He narrowed his eyes at the enemy, thinking fast. Big — too big to lift, especially with a cracked rib. But they were going to need to take it down quick, or it would mow right through them...
Months of practice, of stumbling over strange words in old scrolls, meant he did not stumble now as he gathered his chi, formed it to his purpose, and Cursed the beast. "Cast!" he shouted at the mage. "Anything!"
Following his own advice, he spun through the movements of Fire Dance, enveloping the creature in flames before it could strike out at them again.
Flynn didn't wait to see if the fire did any significant damage. She was stumbling back up to her feet, ignoring the sharp protest from her spine as she did so, and shot off a Blizzara. The air chilled, ice forming— and the beast flailed in displeasure. Was it weak to ice or not? She couldn't tell.
Through the pain, he was already forming the next attack, sending an Aura Bolt at the dinosaur. It stumbled again, and he grinned and called, "Want to run yet, hammer-face?" He doubted it, but worst case, he just had to keep the thing's attention on him — with elemental weaknesses in place, as long as the mage kept casting, this enemy was going down hard.
They kept casting back and forth, their efforts a clear success judging from how the dinosaur was slowing, weakening. Going on gut feeling alone, Flynn focused mostly on ice magic now that earth magic was somewhat out of the question, with all of the earth torn up around them. Each magical attack slammed into the beast, and her heart fluttered as she saw it stagger and forward as if on the verge of submitting.
Her body ached in strange places, particularly as she threw a concerned glance at her partner, moments before sending off a Blaster that crashed into the dinosaur's side.
As for Cyrus, he could feel all the hits he'd taken, one after the other, stacking up. The mage was focused on taking down the dinosaur as opposed to healing, his attempt at mediguard hadn't done much, and though he'd activated Chakra once, he'd been a bit busy maintaining the dinosaur's undivided attention — which was finally repaid in full when a final blast of Fire Dance sent the thing toppling.
Sadly, Cyrus followed moments later with a groan, falling to one knee on the grass and wiping blood from a gash across his cheek. He tried to smile at his ally, though considering how much of a thrashing he'd taken, the expression probably came across kind of ghoulish.
Flynn took little notice, and when the beast had finally and seemed like it wouldn't be getting up again, she bounded over, lowering herself as gently to the ground as her impulsive nature would allow. Despite the protest in her bones, she twisted and reached for her bag, producing a Potion to shove at him so that she could save the rest of her mana for when something else decided to hobble into their path.
