Regardless of her plans or what she had been doing, her body was redirected. It wasn’t against her will, but the the screaming and discomfort caused my Shiva’s rage wasn’t something that Audrey wanted to oppose. She had snuck through and across the city on her way to the outskirts all while trying to restrain the summon within. To your left, obediently she had turned the corner, following the expansive labyrinth of Emillion’s streets while avoiding fights with other rampant monsters. A frown tugged at her lips, easily hopping through and swinging herself across obstacles in the quickest fashion. You mustn't fret, child, nothing will happe—
A giant paw slid and whisked her up in a powerful swing, sending the blonde tumbling into recent rubble. Her body slid and scraped across the cobbled-stone floor. Gripping the floor, her eyes slowly raised partly covered between messy strands of blonde. The Behemoth King let out a roar trembling the earth around her. Breathe, child, breathe. Pushing her body up, Audrey only managed to scramble back until feeling the pressure of a large boulder behind her. With her hand gripping a fire scroll, her hold shook.
That wasn't the only thing that shook. Not half a block away, caught in an alleyway with dust coating her shoulders was a corsair who really, really should've stayed home that day. The cobblestones trembled beneath her feet, and she cursed at the proximity of the roar, knowing that one wrong move could get her swept up in something that didn't concern her. She wasn't a fighter, or a powerful mage. She wasn't noble or selfless or kind.
So why was she always rushing into the middle of a battle she could never handle?
Damia swore under her breath, rounding the corner to see the very thing that had rattled the ground. It was, mildly put, fucking enormous. Definitely not something she could, or should, fight. But she noticed the familiar head of blonde hair, and against her better judgement, she made for Audrey as quietly as possible.
Her hand pressed against the rock as she peered around it. "Are you gonna use that or wet your pants?" It was as close to a Hello as Audrey would get.
The voice snapped her out of whatever fear had a chokehold on her. She made no motion towards Damia, not wanting to attract the beast’s attention to the blonde behind her. “Yeah but we gotta run on three,” she mumbled as if making any sharp movement would trigger the beast to attack. “One…” the countdown was slow, her eyes never leaving him in an attempt to study his body language. “Two—” before she could get another breath the beast had snapped, and Audrey’s arm had instinctively thrown the fire scroll at the Behemoth King’s face hoping that perhaps if she could damage his eyes it might lead to an easier escape.
Roaring in both pain and anger, the beast reared back standing on back feet momentarily. Taking that moment, she dashed behind the boulder next to Damia. “What the fuck do we do now?!”
It was a good question. Run away seemed like the smartest answer, because they would never take this down on their own. The only advantage they had was that the buildings around them would make it difficult for the behemoth to maneuver itself as easily as it might have in an open space. Running could guarantee their safety. Fighting it, just the two of them alone, was a stupid idea. But if they didn't, wouldn't it take out civilians? Injure other people? Destroy the district?
Damia tossed her concern to the side and found her voice. "Split up," she suggested. "We're easier targets if we're together." Faram, why did she have to come up with the plan? As the beast came down on all four paws, she added, "Everything has a weak point. Should be easy to find with all those claws, that tail, and tusks that can skewer you with one thrust."
