James's expression darkened as Aspel spoke. It took every once of self control not to have an outburst, or simply walk out. He had enough respect for her as a friend and a superior to go out of his way to stay within acceptable social boundaries. And he remained very quiet and very still even after Aspel finished speaking. When he did finally speak, it was with the clipped edge of someone trying very hard to contain a very powerful emotion.
