Aspel Cassul: When in doubt, Aspel! (weaponry) wrote in emillion,
Regardless of how many times she had talked herself through the various possible responses that James could have, Aspel couldn't help the internalized flicker of anger the shot up inside of her with his statement. However, with a year of being a councilor under her belt, along with being the main face of the guild for most of that time, she'd learned well how to conceal things of that nature while in business dealings.
"I fear you misunderstand." Her tone came off a bit cool, but entirely collected, and even rather level headed. "It is not a matter of one life being more important than another, this is a matter of number of lives that could be lost." The smith had hoped he would have caught on to that, but it appeared that either it had been missed, or he did not care. "If there is an attack within the city, especially one of the magnitude we have recently encountered, there will be hundreds - on the low end - if not thousands, of lives lost as it is such an enclosed and tight space due to the number of citizens that live here. A similar attack in the outlands would not have the same number of bodies that would require burial." The statements were given as factually as she could manage.
"Additionally, I did not say you had to stay in the city. I said stay close enough that you can assist with response. Most of the recent attacks have taken out an entire day or more. With a mage who has transportation spells, or something as simple as a hoverbike, you could easily make it back within range to assist with response efforts if even if you are many miles out. I would be happy to arrange for a semi-permanent allocation of one of the guild's hoverbikes to you for the duration of this order if you feel it would assist."
