Saeed/Kiernan | Tavern | afternoon
"I have heard many things, some quite unbelievable but in the world we live in, it is best to trust in even the most bizarre," Saeed said. He was around for that plague, but the more recent destruction that the city experienced was one he missed and heard tales of. He also knew it to be the source of some more recent tensions and the protests that erupted the other day.
"For adventures? No," Saeed chuckled, "I came back I have a life here. I could have one back in Ordalia, but I do not need a place to rebuild and I have friends and work here. This is home." And it had been for quite some time.
He raised his glass, "It would also not be right to leave and say I would be back and then never return. What sort of friend would that make me, Kiernan?"
“Good attitude to have, especially lately. If nothing surprises you, nothing catches you off guard. Don’t think there’s much more that could surprise us in this city though.” He chuckled darkly.
“But I do understand that sentiment, that this is home.” This time, he smiled wistfully, glancing around the bar as though the walls were transparent and he could see the whole of Emillion. “Came to that conclusion myself lately. And damn straight, you keep your word about coming back.” Kiernan nudged Saeed playfully with his elbow. “I have a dragon now. Don’t make me have to hunt you down.”
As much as Ordalia was his home in many ways, it wasn't really and he was glad to hear that someone shared the same sentiment toward the city as he did. Maybe Saeed felt it a little more strongly since he'd been away for some time. It might seem like a blink, a moment, but it felt much longer. The city had changed and it felt like a great weight pressed upon the people in it that even a festival couldn't lighten.
Saeed let out a hearty laugh at the threat from Kiernan, "The last thing I would want is for you to have to hunt me down. With a dragon, no less! But many congratulations to you then. And perhaps we should have a toast. For dragons and returns that didn't result in search parties." He lifted his glass of wine into the air, hoping that Kiernan would do the same.
Kiernan threw his head back and laughed before lifting his glass to meet Saeed’s. “To friendships and bonds to last a lifetime, and to this Faram-forsaken city,” he agreed, taking a large sip. They’d converse for a little while longer before they went their separate ways to enjoy the city further -- and Kiernan had to catch up with Mag and Lavitz, still.
