Saeed/Kiernan | Tavern | afternoon
The Festival of Lions wasn't just celebrated in the streets, but also within the nearby taverns. It was one of those taverns that Saeed entered looking for a drink and relax for a bit before he went out to enjoy more of the festival. As he entered, he saw he wasn't the only one with a similar idea, but thankfully the place wasn't terribly crowded. He did recognize a few faces and one in particular he hadn't seen since his return. Saeed made his way to the bar counter.
"Kiernan," he said in greet, "it's good to see you, old friend." He turned to the bartender to order himself an ale and then took a seat nearby, "I see you are taking a break from the festival as well? Or have you not yet gone in to enjoy yourself?" Or maybe he was avoiding it, as some seemed to do, considering the crowd wasn't quite so full as it seemed to normally be this time of year.
“Saeed!” Kiernan greeted with a large grin as the other man settled next to him. “And, nah, this is me enjoying the festival.” He lifted the strawberry daiquiri he’d been sipping at. “Nice, cold drink, get a good buzz going, no better way to enjoy festivals.”
He set the drink on the counter as the bartender served Saeed his drink. “I’m more interested in you, man. When did you crawl back into town?”
Saeed nodded, "It would appear you are not alone in this. It seems I misunderstood." He was smiling though, because he should have remembered that people celebrated in different ways. Not everyone came into a tavern during a festival for the same reasons he might..He waved a hand to the bartender to order himself a glass of wine, and then turned to answer Kiernan's question.
"A few weeks ago," Saeed informed, "I went right back to work, so it has taken me some time to catch up with my friends who are still in this city." He was getting to each of them, one by one. He started with Aspel and spoke with Mag and Ari, Eden and a few others as well.
With the wine before he asked, "What have you been doing while I am gone? Many great adventures for you? Or has the city offered you enough excitement?"
Kiernan considered before he spoke. The exact timeline of when Rangers came and left blurred together, but he knew that Saeed had probably been gone in the magnitude of years, which helped him little. The past year by itself had been plenty eventful for him as it was.
“Well,” he started, “you know Gillian, right? She’s my landlady now. Glad for it, I was living in caves for a good year and a half.” He chuckled and took a sip of his daiquiri. “Then there were all those attacks, which I’m sure you’ve heard all about by now. Almost died in one of the more recent ones myself. Crazy what’s been going on.”
He decided to leave out that he was still doing exercises to make sure that his shoulder didn’t completely crap out on him before he was ready to retire because of that battle. Too many people knew and fussed already over it. Not that Kiernan recalled Saeed being the type.
