Sky/Juliette | midday | streets
He’d lost Pyr, but it was a momentary thing; the twins never did lose each other for very long, and besides, Sky had gotten distracted by the sweet aroma of azuki buns. He would just have to buy one for Pyr, too, unless his brother had also lost himself in the crowd surrounding the booth.
So distracted by the scent, Sky hadn’t noticed when he bumped into someone. “Whoops,” he said. It didn’t take long before recognition set in, however. “You!”
Juliette’s face quickly cycled through confusion to discomfort to relief (once she realized that, in fact, the person in front of her was not Pyr, who had occupied a great deal of her confused thoughts recently). “Yes?” she asked. Then, since the young man seemed to have temporarily misplaced his manners, she prompted, “Hello, Sky.”
“Hi,” he returned, and he tried his hardest not to let out a snicker after recalling some of his brother’s missteps and confessions whenever the subject of Juliette was brought up. He couldn’t help but to reveal a smirk. Too bad Pyr wasn’t around. “Looking for Pyr?”
She tried to school her reaction, though she still probably turned a bit pink. Did everyone have this… misconception about her and Pyr?
(And was it as much of a misconception as she’d initially thought?)
“I was looking for Ridley,” she responded. Then, “Why, was Pyr… looking for me?”
Sky didn’t miss the blush; he’d have to tease Pyr about this later. But now it was getting really hard not to burst out laughing.
“Nah,” he said. He wasn’t the kind of brother to reveal things he oughtn’t. At least, not yet. “Just lost him myself, was looking, and I figure if you’re here Pyr can’t be too far since you’re always hanging out together.” Soon he’d realize the logic made no sense, but he was rolling with it.
“I was looking for Ridley,” she repeated, rather stupidly. Actually, she hadn’t seen much of Pyr since that uncomfortable afternoon with Rolan; she was afraid he was upset with her, but didn’t really know what to do or say about it. This situation was far outside her area of knowledge, and she didn’t feel at all comfortable consulting Alys or the Countess about it…
“I suppose he ought to be around here somewhere,” she said at last. “This seems to be where the majority of the food stalls are set up.”
Sky scowled at her correction or whatever it was but shrugged it off. “Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. After all, this is where we lost each other.” Oh, but those azuki buns smelled so good. “You’re looking for Ridley here?”
