"Betterment of the guild..." Merri mused on that for a moment. He didn't know how he could make things better; at best, he felt that he was capable of maintaining, of doing what was asked of him and what was expected of him, though it was true: the guild was in a terrible position, and it was up to him, Peony, and Toku, and whoever might fill Toku's spot on the Council, to do something about it.
He still felt they were better suited than him, though.
"I don't know much about how we could provide better warning for these attacks, but..." But there it was: a purpose to research, a purpose to all of the reading. Not that he wasn't already doing it, but it helped clear up some things. "I guess it's a place to start, and I always have my spells to keep learning and practicing for... you know, next time." Because there was not a doubt about it: there would be a next time.
