At any rate, Li would not have canceled their training for today were it not for a monumental occurrence. So Divina would pay him a visit and attend to his needs. It would be a kindness, and kindness was certainly not a trait anyone ever associated with the noblewoman. That was necessary for the reputation she had taken care to cultivate. However, with her mentor, Divina had no reason to pretend to be whatever sort of person. As she shoved ingredients into her satchel, she reasoned that he had already seen her at her worst and at her best. That she was capable of concern for another's well-being would cause him nary a flicker of intrigue. There was no need for her to uphold an image of reckless apathy. Her mentor knew who she was and had not cast her aside. His judgment was the only the one that mattered, and in that regard she had yet to disappoint.
The route to his apartment was a familiar one. Early on in her apprenticeship, she would begrudgingly fetch him every manner of things (mostly food) from all over the city to bring to his quarters. That had ended as she reached the ranks of the Fallen, but even the years could not efface the winding alleys of the tenements from her memory. Easily enough, Divina found herself at Li's door.
