Darius had been a White Mage for almost 10 years. In that time, he’d learned to use a rod, stored a massive supply of spells to fling out at his every command, and even had made quite the name for himself as an able caretaker for those in need of physical repair. However, Darius sucked at actual combat. He could heal, and buff all day, but when it came to dealing damage? Well, he was probably about as effective as a well seasoned rookie of the Fighter’s guild. That was why, even dealing with an Earth Elemental, the weakest enemy on the field, he still struggled. With a low grunt, he swung the rod around, trying to land a solid hit on the beast. “Get back here you fucker, I can’t do this all day!” An object was launched over Darius’ shoulder, knocking into the pile of floating rocks. Trembling and clicking together, a gust of wind emitted from the scroll, shaking the elemental to its core. “Looks like you could use some help,” a familiar voice rung out in the field. Appearing from the veil of Vanish at his side, Audrey glanced over momentarily before her attention drew to the monster and drawing kunai in both her hands. “On your mark.” Shifting back, Darius attempted to catch his breath, and the brief shame of getting rescued by his sorta-not-but-kinda-a-little-girlfriend was pushed aside. With a twirl of his staff, and a wide, sweeping wave of the white mage’s arm, Wall was administered to wash over Audrey with its protective properties. “I’ll keep you standing if you can keep up hitting it hard!” With another deep suck in of breath, and a sharp cut of hand through the air Regan clicked to life the light green light washing over them both. “Got any weaknesses you know?” He doubted he could help but… Maybe, just maybe he could. “Buff like the wind, blue eyes,” she glanced back. In a lunge forward, she threw one of the kunai towards the elemental, nicking one of the pebbles as it kept flying through. She felt the green light wash cover her, any fatigue from before fading away. Launching her second kunai at the elemental, her hand snaked its way to one of her back pouches from which she drew a scroll, showing it to the white mage. “Wind seems to be effective.” There was a small frown before she continued. “This is my last one though. You don’t happen to know how to cast wind magic, do you?” It was a long shot but worth it. He didn’t even need to confirm that he’d be willing to buff as with a shift of his weight, and a grunt as his arm jutted out sharply he layered Haste onto the combination of Wall and Regen he’d already graced Audrey with. There wouldn’t be a lot more he could do after this, there was one more protective spell he could weave around her, but that one was a gamble depending on what this beast could do. Reflect could either be a blessing or a boon depending on the monster’s magic, and how hard it could hit. The last thing he needed was to desperately need to weave healing magicks onto Audrey, and not be able too. “Have you seen these things fight before?” Though her sudden call back of a weakness to wind caused a definite frown. “Useless there! I know like one attack spell.” Man, that hurt to admit. “It’s fine,” she called back at him, launching another Kunai at the elemental. It rumbled, clicking frantically before finally unleashing Fira at the two humes. Audrey’s reaction had naturally been to Vanish, and find some cover. Thankfully the Wall did it’s job, and due to the magick, her body and reappeared almost instantaneously as if she were a flicker. Taking the final wind scroll out of her pouch, she threw it at the elemental, covering her face from any flying debris thanks to the unnatural winds. It didn’t take long much after with Audrey continuing to throw and Darius weaving his healing magicks. The pile of rocks crumbled and the two were finally left alone but standing. “See,” she grinned back at him (albeit a little force only due to the dire situation the city was in), “It was fine.” |
