Peony/Jareth/Pyr/Esther vs. Hashmal
Peony had made it out of the tower somehow, in the chaos of those choosing to flee and those choosing to fight (and those who had fallen, about whom she could not afford to think, though she would, later, at length, mourn their loss). She could run upon the air now, with weeks of practice in her winged footwear; though the earth and walls shook around them. But the evacuation had not gone as planned, for there were beasts here, too, as far as the eye could see, and rolling Mist pulsing from the ground.
She had taken out an elemental alone, throwing her spells at it as it helplessly attempted to silence her, to attack her with the Earth upon which she did not stand. It disintegrated harmlessly, but there was another beast already to take its place.
The ground beneath shook violently, but she stood firm upon the air as the massive monster rose. She could not finish her message to Toku now, could not do anything but engage. There were others, she thought, coming from other directions, but for the moment she stood alone, unprotected, an easy target.
She could do nothing about the Sage now, and she could not afford to take the time to help with the fleeing civilians. When there was chaos, her mind narrowed -- one step at a time. The first step was before her. This beast could not be allowed to advance, must be contained and defeated before it could wreak havoc. She would have to stand against it and trust in Faram that help would come.
So she lifted her arms, the sleeves of her robe singed, and pointed her power and chanted. As the earth shook, a mighty Tornado rose at her call, challenging the beast -- and, hopefully, catching its attention.
