She didn’t know what was going on, what had happened, or what was going to happen, but a peak outside the front door of her house in the commoner’s district - that Ratchet had been uncharacteristically barking at - had revealed Mist fogged streets and instantly Riyeko’s heart had jumped into her throat. Oh no, oh dear, this wasn’t good, it wasn’t good at all.
Then came the sounds of beasts. Oh double no, and oh double dear. Thoughts scattered, maybe she should stay inside, maybe she should try to run, maybe she should notify Peony, or maybe she should….
A Hume scream echoed through the night of the area Riyeko lived in. Oh no.
The Machinist surged forward, towards the door, snatching up a pistol from a drawer, a belt from the coat hanger filled with gadgets and goodies, and grabbing her hoverboard, about to book out the door when she paused. Stopping before reaching for the handle.
No. The last time she went out there like this, Peony had, had to save her… She needed to have a….
Oh.
Frantically Riyeko put on the belt that had been left to lay on her shoulder, tossed the hoverboard down, and attached the gun to where she could reach it.
“Ratchet stay!” She yelled at the dog before disappearing into her garage workshop. It was mostly untested… Well, partly untested. Mostly the newest modifications a - Gatling like - gun, and metallic fists for the user to control hadn’t fully been worked out while loaded onto the exoskeleton suit, but Arielle Chiaro had tested out the item based spell launching system in the Founders festival, and Riyeko had been testing the rocket boots for months. The brace function she’d worked into the legs gave her plenty of room for item reloads into the system and…
Frantically, the Machinist loaded up the ammo, and items into the compartments of the machine, and anywhere else things were needed - while listening to the screams of people outside - before climbing up a short latter, and situating herself into the suit.
With a press of a button, a wall of the workshop raised away - scattering tools across her driveway and front lawn - as the garage door opened, and Riyeko - locked into suit the machinist moved it forward, out into the streets. This would be the real test of it, to fully assure its mettle against real odds, as she’d intended to do with it the whole time. Another button was pressed, and the hoverpads kicked on, she needed to get up high, a fly over of the city so that she could get a good view of what was going on. Hopefully, the Mist was only covering her area.
Maybe this time, she could be the one to do the saving.
