Riyeko shifted, trying her best not to uncomfortably fidget while standing by a second variation of the adjustable brace she’d created for Ofelia that had been put on display for the day 2 display for the Tech Display in the Founders Festival. It seemed to be getting good reviews so far, a lot of positive murmurs, and approving nods of heads had been given in her direction. A device that could not only provide support, but assist in rebuilding muscle after injury, and also boost strength for carrying load. All while having a nice little compartment to store medicine, trinkets, and so on in. The machinist had to wonder if perhaps that were just being nice. There were so many cool inventions at the expo that people couldn’t be completely in love with hers alone, could they? Though, people continued to circle by, marking their cards as she explained her invention and what it could do, and how - if the public was interested - she could expand the line to help support arms, wrists, ankles, and more. It could be an entire line of body assistance and restoration devices with only a few small tweaks and edits. Better living through technology, one of the passerby’s had joked, and really, Riyeko couldn’t help but agree. This was just a start, but it was a powerful one none-the-less. Really though, the brace would be terribly useful for those who had taken an arrow - or more - to the knee. “No, no, no, no, no, no!!!” Riyeko cried out, attempting to make the remote work, to get it to send commands appropriately but failing all the way through. The exoskeleton suit - with some modifications she had hoped would work to make it a feasible combatant in the tech battle - seemed to be failing miserably all around. The fists were too heavy, the legs couldn’t kick well, the spell bursts were complicated and melting some of the plastic protective covers. Really, it was a mess all around. She should have thought it through better than this. Better than- “Jump!” The Machinist yelled at her creation as she hammered down on a button, but no reaction was made at all as the machine her suit ‘fought’ (it was almost laughable she felt, even though she’d made it into the final round of battles) and was rammed into by the creation it was going up against. Even with the Jump boots built in, the strength mods (the first of the machines she fought had been dismantled by it being kicked across the arena - literally), the hover pads (which she’d used to melt down another bot earlier in the competition, and win her second round), the spell projectors based on a manipulation of items that allowed for casting spells in streams (that had won rounds three (freezing her competition) and four (electrically shorted the other bots circuits at the last moment)). The joystick was quickly pushed, swirled and jiggled, a desperate attempt to get the exoskeleton to respond at all, but as the other machine rammed into the legs of her suit again, it creaked, rocking. Riyeko gasped, hammering on the buttons frantically, trying to get a response at all as the suit swayed, rocking back before falling to the floor, and ending the match in favor or her competition. Her face fell, and defeat felt horrible, but… At least she had something to strive for next year. And clearly, it her suit was meant to run with a hume inside it from the failure of the controls in this match…. Well… Until she figured out how to make it work that was. |
