"Oh," Ari said, "I imagine I'll be around the guild hall once in awhile, at least, but if you miss me, send an ostentatiously worded invitation and I can come around for dinner and scandalize your brothers. Your cook is far superior to the one here," she added as they stopped outside the tavern. They both knew it was unlikely to happen, but that was all right. It was a mental image to smile at, at least; Altair's brothers had not gotten his temperament, to their detriment.
"I'll head up then," she told him. "Thanks for coffee, and best of luck with your business." Having said her good-byes, she took the narrow steps up the side of the building up to her door. She had no keys on her - where they were would likely be a mystery for the ages, and she would have to change her locks, again - but her picks were in her left boot and it was the work of a few moments to get her door open. Inside, she stripped her clothes off, leaving them on the floor as she went, and fell facedown onto her bed.
It was barely ten - at least four hours of perfectly good sleep could still be hers.
