"I do have quite a lot to do today," Altair sighed. "I suppose I should start on some of it." He looked across the room and caught the proprietor's eye. "Let me settle my account, and then I will walk you back to the Theater District."
He stood and crossed the cafe. The proprietor gave him a receipt, which he signed, and he promised to pay his account as soon as he got home. The proprietor waved off his promise, saying he knew Altair was good for it. The irony never escaped Altair, that once a person achieved a certain level of wealth, he could walk into an establishment without a single penny and still expect to be served.
That done, he walked back over to Ari. "Shall we?"
