"Yes, Fellina," he agreed absently. He thought about the attributes she possessed that Ari did not and couldn't help the small smile that crossed his face. He didn't socialize with Fellina himself, of course, but he'd heard the rumors, most of which didn't bathe her in the best light.
Then he realized he was smiling and quickly changed his expression to one of friendly concern. He cleared his throat and then added, "Of course, she hasn't got half the cleverness, beauty, grace, and talent you have, so I suppose there must be some trade-off."
They crossed into the Commoner's District then, and Altair glanced over at the inn where he'd stabled Coco earlier that morning. He was used to being teased for his attachment to an animal, but he found them intelligent and affectionate and their company relaxing.
The cafe was on the same block. As they reached the door, Altair opened it and held it for Ari. "Here we are," he said.
