In response to his question, she beamed, the expression so uncommon on her face as to be, perhaps, a little comical. “Very well,” she confirmed. “I had word from the council this afternoon -- I passed my class exam.” Somewhat belatedly, realizing that bragging was probably unbecoming, she added, “I hope your studies have progressed well after the last class we attended? And your work, of course.” After all, unlike her, he had a very real (and very important) position as well. She had seen him off and on with Storm’s mentor and knew his affiliation.
But it seemed that before the conversation could continue, a gentleman would approach and request a dance, and really, what was she to do? “I hope we will speak later,” she told him before allowing herself to be led out onto the floor.
(Later, she spotted him arm in arm with Seloria and felt her eyebrows rising despite her best attempts to maintain a pleasantly bland expression. They would certainly have to speak later, indeed.)
